Toyota Motor (TMC) said Toyota do Brasil (TDB), its Brazilian sales and manufacturing subsidiary, will begin sales of the Etios, already on sale in India and now also a strategic vehicle for Brazil, on 28 September. The Etios will be available in both sedan and hatchback versions – the Indian launch was staggered.
The starting price of the Etios has been set at BRL29,990 (US$14,834), with an initial annual sales target of 70,000 units. The company aims to double total sales to 200,000 units in 2013 from an estimated 100,000 this year.

Production of the vehicle, to run on a mix of petrol and ethanol, commenced in mid-September at TDB’s Sorocaba Plant in São Paolo, which was officially opened on 9 August.
The Etios is the first Toyota vehicle to be launched in the Brazilian compact car market which accounts for over 60% of sales.
Toyota plans to begin building engines at another new factory in Brazil in the second half of 2015.
