An upgraded version of the Chevrolet Captiva SUV with a smaller but more efficient engine has started to roll off the assembly line at GM Uzbekistan, a joint venture between General Motors and Uzbek automaker Uzavtoprom. GM is a 25% stake holder in the venture.

A three-litre, 258hp unit replaces the 3.2-litre, 230hp unit and the company said that it plans to produce about 500 between now and the end of the year, all for the domestic market.
