The Sun, Britain's largest selling tabloid newspaper, has named the US-designed, Mexican-built Chrysler PT Cruiser as its car of the year. The paper's motoring correspondent Ken Gibson put the PT Cruiser at the top of his list because it had made such a big impact after just a few months on sale in the UK.

Gibson said: “The bold and decidedly different Cruiser was the most refreshing breath of fresh air to hit the UK motoring scene for years; a family car that turned heads in a way usually reserved for Ferraris.”
