Dodge has introduced the most fuel-efficient version of its new Dart sedan, the replacement for the Caliber hatchback launched earlier this year. Priced from US$19,295, the Aero has Chrysler parent Fiat’s 1.4-litre ‘MultiAir’ intercooled turbo engine combined with several aerodynamic enhancements, including lightweight aluminum chassis components, active grille shutters, underbody aero kit, a lowered profile and low-rolling resistance tyres.

Chrysler said the Aero achieves 41 miles per [smaller US] gallon (mpg) on the highway with six-speed manual transmission. This dips to 40 mpg with the optional six-speed dual dry clutch transmission (DDCT).

“The all-new Dodge Dart is a groundbreaking vehicle, offering features and benefits never before offered in a compact car,” claimed Reid Bigland, president CEO – Dodge brand.

Standard equipment includes 10 airbags, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, cruise control, auto headlamps, air conditioning with micron filter, power windows and locks, power mirrors, remote keyless entry, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, projector headlamps and class-exclusive LED ‘racetrack’ tail lamps.

The class-exclusive 8.4-inch touchscreen media centre and seven-inch TFT reconfigurable gauge cluster are optional.
