Sales
of Chrysler and Jeep vehicles in Europe reached record levels last year as the
company’s distributor network recorded a performance which went against the industry
trend.

In market conditions which remained generally static across Europe, with falling
sales in many markets, total sales of Chrysler and Jeep vehicles in 16 European
countries rose to almost 109,000 during 2000, an increase of 4.4 percent over
the previous year.

In the UK, which was one of the top two performers in Europe, sales increased
by 20.1 percent, with sales of Chrysler vehicles recording an increase of 3,000
over the previous year. Belgium, Netherlands and Germany also recorded impressive
sales increases. The Neon sedan proved popular recording a sales increase of
80 percent over the previous year, reflecting the launch of a new model, as
did the PT Cruiser with just over 14,000 sold in eight months.

"European retail sales increased by almost five percent in 2000, while
the industry remained stagnant and even went down in many key countries. So
this achievement represents an admirable improvement,” said Steven J. Landry,
president of Chrysler Jeep Europe.

“During the next 12 months, we will see further volume increases in retail
sales, with the launch of the new Voyager, Sebring sedan, Sebring cabrio and
the new Liberty later in the year.”
