Ford will officially launch the Fiesta Ikon sedan in Mexico next week, according to a report in Mexican financial daily El Economista, relayed by Infolatina.
The Ikon is a spin-off of the European Fiesta hatchback and was developed for and first produced in India.
Production has now commenced at a plant in Mexico City, too, and the model joins a new range of compact and sub-compact cars Ford recently decided to sell in the Central American market.
These include the Fiesta, imported from Britain, and the Ka and Courier models, both imported from Brazil, El Economista auto industry columnist Guillermo Lira reported.
