Toyota has launched its Prius model in India, aiming to sell around 200 units a year in what it sees a as a market with good growth potential.


The Prius will be Toyota’s first hybrid model to be launched in India and the second such vehicle available in the South Asian country after Honda Motor Co.’s Civic Hybrid.


The Prius will come in two versions with price tags of 2,655,000 rupees and 2,786,000 rupees.
    
“Through the launch of Prius, Toyota is keen to demonstrate its commitment to offer the latest eco-friendly automotive technology to its customers in India,” Toyota Kirloskar Motor Deputy Managing Director Sandeep Singh told reporters at the New Delhi Show.


Sales will commence from March.
