The job cuts account for about 6% of the 5,750 posts not directly involved in the production of vehicles, the company said in a statement. It employs another 7,500 people to make cars.
Some 130 jobs will go through early retirement. Seat president James Muir said the goal was to “increase the efficiency and productivity of the company”.
VW reported on Monday that Seat sales dropped 8.6% to 336,600 cars last year following a sharp decline in its domestic market.
