Nissan Motor sales in China last year rose 48% to a record 518,968 passenger vehicles, the automaker said in a statement.

Nissan produces sedans and light commercial vehicles in a 50-50 joint venture with Dong Feng Motor and said it planned to sell 1m cars, trucks and buses in 2010, two years ahead of schedule.
Earlier this week, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) said the domestic market was expected to hit 10% growth in new vehicle sales this year, taking the country’s annual new vehicle market to a staggering 15m units.
CAAM said earlier sales of locally produced vehicles reached 13.64m units in 2009, up 46.2% year on year.
