Chrysler will recall 24,177 vehicles to check for a faulty part that could cause brake failure, according to a filing by the automaker with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The recall applies mostly to 16,872 Dodge Ram 2009-2010 model year pick-up trucks plus the 2010 Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Avenger and Nitro, plus Jeep Liberty [Cherokee], Commander and Grand Cherokee.

The vehicles were built with an improperly formed or missing part in the braking system. “This could result in brake failure without warning which could cause a crash,” Chrysler said in a letter cited by the Wall Street Journal.
The defective part was first spotted in November at the company’s Toledo North assembly plant. Chrysler will notify dealers and owners this month of the problem and will replace the part.
