DaimlerChrysler and the government of Brazil’s Pará state have inaugurated the Poematec plant to process natural fibre from coconut and other sources, writes Rogério Louro Alves.
The plant, in Ananindeua in the Amazonas region, will produce automotive components, including seats, head restraints and carpets, from natural fibre.
DaimlerChrysler has invested $US1.4 million in the plant. The total investment was $US4 million.
