The company’s management believes such a move would help improve the carmaker’s competitiveness in the country amid the economic crisis. It would also allow the carmaker to avoid high duties on imported vehicles.


Volkswagen launched its Russian car plant in November 2007. It assembles Skoda and Volkswagen cars.
