Japanese media reports say this is the second time that the firm, affiliated with Toyota, has postponed the project.

Still hoping to launch production in spring 2011, Denso will decide when to start the plant construction based on the economic situation, it said.

The company will not cancel the project, but it will reconsider the amount of investment, Managing Officer Akio Shikamura told a press conference at the Fukushima government building.

In March last year, Denso said it would start building the plant, its first production base in the Tohoku region, in Tamura in January 2009. But in November, it put off the construction till spring 2009.
