Daimler is looking for a partner for its lithium-ion batteries joint venture with Evonik Industries, a senior executive has said.


Research and development chief Thomas Weber told German newspaper Handelsblatt Daimler was currently in talks with a number of companies.


Suppliers to the joint venture, Deutsche Accumotive, would be finalised within one or two months and it was possible the most important became a partner in the joint venture, Weber added.


Daimler is primarily looking for a control electronics specialist and contenders include Bosch, Continental, Tesla, Toshiba and the Mitsubishi-Juasa joint venture, Lithium Energy Japan.
