A new two-litre Volkswagen group diesel engine with common rail injection system is now available in a Škoda Superb model called the 2.0TDI CR 140bhp DPF.

The updated diesel technology makes the new engine more fuel-efficient and environment friendly than the 2.0 TDI PD (single unit injector) 140bhp unit it replaced. EU ‘official test cycle’ combined fuel consumption has improved by 4.4mpg to 52.3mpg and CO2 emissions are down 12g/km to 143g/km. A diesel particulate filter complies the engine with the latest EU5 emissions regulations.

The use of a single, high-pressure fuel rail and a lower compression ratio also improves engine refinement, according to Skoda.

The new engine comes with either six-speed manual or twin-clutch DSG transmissions and supplements existing 1.9 TDI PD 105bhp and 2.0 TDI CR 170bhp DPF diesel engines in the Superb line.
