Honda has announced the appointment of David Hodgetts to head up its UK car, motorcycle and power products sales operations.

He moves to Honda (UK) from the company’s Swindon car plant where he had 20 years experience culminating in his current role as director of planning and administration.

Last year he guided the plant through a four month shutdown which included major refurbishment work, the introduction of more flexible working practices, voluntary departures and a staff development programme. Car output restarted in June and the Jazz entered production soon after.

Hodgetts takes up his new role on 1 April.

Ken Keir, formerly managing director, Honda (UK) and senior vice president, Honda Motor Europe, has been promoted to executive vice president, Honda Motor Europe, where he will be responsible for business performance in 27 European markets for cars, motorcycles and power products.

With the appointment of Hodgetts at Honda (UK), Keir relinquishes direct responsibility for the UK operation to focus entirely on strengthening the total European sales operation.
