A spokesperson for Volvo India told the Hindu Business Line that the company will halt production of its factory for nearly 30 days during April and May. This will affect about 160 employees who work on the shop floor.

The newspaper said that during the last fiscal year, Volvo manufactured about 1,550 complete trucks, of which about 550 trucks were exported to South Korea.

“Volvo understands and adapts to business cycles. A key action is to balance supply with demand. As a proactive measure, the assembly line for trucks and bus chassis will be temporarily halted for close to 30 days during April and May to rationalise production,” the Volvo spokesperson told Business Line.
