Despite global recalls, production by Toyota Motor Corporation soared more than 80 percent in March compared to depleted year-ago levels.
Toyota and its subsidiaries — Daihatsu and Hino — produced 860,534 vehicles in March for an 82.2 percent gain on last year. Toyota rolled out 773,297 cars, trucks and SUVs — up 96.7 percent from March 2009.
Toyota also said that its global sales surged 26.3% year-on-year in March, despite the fallout from recent safety recalls and quality glitches.
Toyota has launched aggressive incentive programs to holds sales up. In the US, Toyota is offering zero percent finance on some models.
