India’s Kesoram Industries is likely to sell its Balasore, Orissa plant to Italian
multi-national Pirelli, reports Auto-Asia online (28/11/00).

According to the website, Kesoram – the company behind Birla Tyres –
established the plant in 1989 and has a capacity of 1.1 million tyres per year.

Auto-Asia reports that the plant must be ‘decoupled’ from Kesoram Industries
before the deal with Pirelli – which is Orissa’s technical partner –
can be completed.
