JAPAN: Nissan denies additional platform reductions – Dow Jones
Nissan has denied that it has plans to further cut the number of car platforms after reducing the number to 12 from the current 15 by fiscal 2002, according to a report carried on the Dow Jones website. The denial follows a Nihon Keizai Shimbun report over the weekend that Nissan plans to reduce the number of car platforms to 8 by fiscal 2006.

The denial follows a Nihon Keizai Shimbun report over the weekend that Nissan plans to reduce the number of car platforms to 8 by fiscal 2006.
The 8 platforms will be used for subcompacts, compacts and full-size front- and rear-wheel drive models and small trucks, while Nissan will share the two platforms for subcompacts and compacts with its leading shareholder Renault SA, the report said.
