Toyota will restart production at its factory in Guangzhou, China, on Monday after a Denso-controlled affiliate partially restarted its local plant on Thursday after a strike, automaker officials said.
Toyota spokeswoman Mieko Iwasaki told Kyodo News: ”We are making preparations (such as inspecting equipment) this week so that we can restart production likely on Monday.”
Denso said the strike was continuing with fewer workers participating.
The stoppage began on Monday when around 300 of the 1,150 employees halted work demanding higher wages and better benefits. Toyota next day stopped Guangzhou vehicle assembly because it could not obtain parts linked to electric control systems. The plant’s line includes the Camry and its hybrid variant.
The development followed a production halt last week at Toyota’s Tianjin plant after employees at a supplier in the city went on strike. Toyota resumed operations there after the dispute was settled.
