In Japan, operations at Nissan’s four assembly plants were suspended for three days from Wednesday for the same reason.
Hitachi said last Monday the problem occurred as delivery of integrated circuits used to produce the electronic auto parts at Hitachi Automotive Systems started to be delayed earlier this month, due to what one official described as a tight demand-supply balance.
The automaker’s US production will resume next Tuesday, the Nissan officials said. They did not say how many vehicles would be affected by the suspensions.
