Sollers Naberezhniye Chelny, a unit of Russian automaker Sollers, has started commercial production and sales of Fiat Linea cars, the unit said in a statement.

Investments in the creation of the production line were not provided. Sollers Naberezhniye Chelny, located in the constituent republic of Tatarstan, plans to sell 1,400 Linea units by the end of 2010.

The Linea is essentially a sedan version of the Grand Punto hatchback and is also made or assembled in Turkey, China, India and Brazil.
