Ford vehicle sales in China leapt 79% in the third quarter of this year, the automaker said on Tuesday.

Its joint ventures and wholly-owned entities in China delivered 119,338 units, up 79% year on year. September sales of Ford brand vehicles rose 107% to a record high.
Nine-month sales were up 32% to 316,639 units.
“The overwhelming response of Chinese consumers to our world-class lineup of Ford brand vehicles is underpinning our continued performance of record sales,” said Ford Motor China chairman and CEO Robert Graziano.
“In September, [the locally assembled] Fiesta achieved its best monthly sales performance of 5,009 units, reaching total sales of 32,178 since its March launch,” added Graziano.
Joint venture Changan Ford Mazda Automobile (CFMA) posted record sales of 227,839 units in the nine-month period, a 43% increase year on year.
Commercial vehicle JV Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC) booked record sales of 82,718 units to the end of September with the Transit leading the high end light commercial van segment with sales of 23,520 units.
The Focus, also assembled in China, achieved record monthly sales in September with 13,891 units, up 72%, and sold 99,109 units in the first three quarters.
Mondeo and S-Max sales rose about 40% and 68%, respectively.
