“Currently at Uttarakhand plant, we are making 3,000-4,000 Nano cars per month,” PM Telang, Tata Motors managing director in charge of India, told reporters on the sidelines of an industry conference.
“We should reach full-scale production at Sanand (in Gujarat state) in six to eight months from now,” he said.
Tata Motors is currently producing the Nano at its factory at Pantnagar in the northern state of Uttarakhand. It was forced out of a 95% complete factory intended to build the car in another state after violent protests by farmers who had been evicted so their land could be used.
