Pierburg Pump Technology of Neuss, Germany, a member of the Kolbenschmidt Pierburg Group (which belongs to the Rheinmetall Group) has agreed with Japan’s Mikuni Corporation to form a 51-49 sales, development and production joint venture for electric coolant and variable oil pumps destined for Asia markets.
The parties said the trend toward fuel consumption reduction in conventional engines, and future engine concepts such as hybrid and electrically powered vehicles, is gaining significance.

Mikuni is an established component supplier in Asia of carburetors for motor cars and bikes, oil and coolant pumps, throttle bodies, actuators and solenoid valves and injection system components. The corporation has its own production facilities in Japan, China and India and sales offices worldwide.
