Japan is on track to scrap automobile-related provisional tax rates in fiscal 2010, internal affairs minister Kazuhiro Haraguchi said on Monday.

Haraguchi told reporters after holding talks with deputy prime minister Naoto Kan and finance minister Hirohisa Fujii that they had also agreed to raise the current tobacco tax rate in the year starting in April.
