UK breakdown company Mondial Assistance is introducing new Bluetooth ‘pen and pad’ technology designed specifically for the Mercedes-Benz roadside assistance programme.

The technology streamlines the way in which warranty information passes from repair technicians to the claims administration team.

To conform with global warranty requirements, the current system means every assistance needs an individual ‘write-up’, as costs are claimed through the Mercedes-Benz warranty system. The new system reduces the number of manual steps, streamlining the claim process.

The Bluetooth pen writes on a sensitised pad, which converts handwriting into text using recognition software. Once the form is complete, a box is ticked and the information transmits via Bluetooth to a mobile web device, and is then sent to a pre-defined email address at Mondial’s office. Four forms have been consolidated into one using this technology, further reducing time-consuming administration.

The form is fully encrypted, which allows each to be tracked once sent. Mandatory fields to be completed before the form can be sent can also be preset, ensuring the correct amount of information is received every time, minimising delays.
