The site (www.lowemissionzones.eu) provides information about where restrictions and apply and how to comply with them. It is run on behalf of a network of low emission zones (LEZ) cities and government ministries and is a regularly updated, publicly funded website.

Lucy Sadler, of Sadler Consulting, which runs the website, said that over 70 cities and towns in eight countries now have LEZs. Here in Europe, these include London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht.

In some towns vehicles have to be registered before a vehicle can be driven in; others simply ban some types of vehicle. The website provides details of each LEZ, with maps.
