Peugeot plans to reduce production of its 1007 by nearly one third at its plant in Poissy according to a French newspaper report.

Les Echos says the plant will reduce production from 77 to 52 units a day. In 2007, only 18,600 units of the model were sold, compared with 34,000 in 2006.

The innovative small car with sliding doors has never achieved the volume targets set for it, in part because of the abundance of small cars in PSA’s range and also because it has been seen as relatively expensive. It therefore has limited appeal in a highly competitive market segment.

The 1007 was launched in 2005.
