The automaker is reducing production of 3,000 cars at the plant from its annual targets because of worsening economic conditions, Electronic News Publishing said on Tuesday.

A Vauxhall spokeswoman declined to confirm or deny the report or discuss specifics but said the adjustment was part of normal business practices as demand fluctuated.

She noted that the company was presently adding shifts at its Luton plant (which makes vans in a joint venture with the Renault-Nissan Alliance) due to increased demand for its products.
