Fiat has officially reopened its plant in Cordoba, central Argentina, and plans to make 600,000 cars a year there by 2010.

The plant will employ about 4,200, according to local news service ANSA.

The plant stopped making complete vehicles after the Argentine economic crisis in 2001-2 and the employee count dropped from 4,900 to 600 making components only.

Fiat plans to boost daily production capacity from 250 to 400 with an initial annual output of 220,000.
