It will provide five for use at the Hokkaido Toyako Summit to be held on 7-9 July.

Four of the five will be used to transport government officials and other participants at the summit, while one will be displayed at the environmental showcase, an exhibition and demonstration area for media.

FHI will also provide one car to the Japan Post group for mail collection and delivery around Toyako during the summit.

The concept combines the EV system employed in the R1e with Subaru’s regular production Stella mini car.

FHI plans to use the concept as the basis of next generation EVs. It jointly developed the car with Tokyo Electric Power.

Forty of the R1e, equipped with lithium ion (Li-ion) batteries, have been used by the utility as part of its corporate fleet and by the Kanagawa prefectural government. Data collected under such real-world conditions has helped with development.
