“Sources familiar with the matter” told the Reuters news agency the initial talks broke down due to price differences but the two parties have since spoken again after their initial discussions, which were held last autumn.


A source also told the news agency that Ford had talked with China’s Dongfeng Motor, as a potential partner for Volvo.


Reports last week suggested Ford had also discussed a potential Volvo sales with SAIC but the Chinese automaker has since denied this.


Ford has consistently maintained Volvo is not for sale.

Spokesman Mark Truby declined to comment directly to Reuters on the lastest report, but said: “We announced earlier this year that Volvo is not for sale and that we are focused on improving Volvo’s business results.”
