According to Autodata, 5,000 cars are being delivered to 600 sales outlets a week ahead of the launch and will be handed over to the first customers on 30 July.
The Sao Paulo based news agency said Volkswagen considered changing the Gol name as the five-door hatchback version will in fact be the first of a new family of products. A three-door version is expected but no date has been given for its launch. In the meantime the fourth generation version will remain on sale.
The Gol base price will remain at R$28,900 in line with the previous version. The top Gol Power has a 1.6-litre engine and a suggested list price of R$ 35,000.
The Gol will go on sale in Argentina in August and in the rest of Latin America after that. Other markets such as India are also possible although they are also places that the Gol could be produced in the future.
