Production at Mazda in Japan surged 16.8% to 96,086 units in June and rose 20.5% in the first six months of the year to 566,040 due mainly due to increased output of the recently updated 2 (Demio) and redesigned 6 (Atenza).

Overseas output declined 11.6% last month to 17,571 units and was off 7.8% to 141,817 in the first half. Mazda’s US plant has just changed over to output of the redesigned 6.
Home market sales fell 8.6% to 19,268 units despite strong sales of the new Atenza and were essentially flat for the half year at 134,979 (-0.6%).
Exports from Japan soared 37.2% in June to 84,960 units due to increased shipments of the 2, 3, and 6 and rose 22.7% in the first six months to 459,392 on the back of strong 2, 6 and CX-7 sales, Mazda said.
