BMW will soon
launch a pilot telematics system in Cologne to help drivers find a parking space.
The driver enters his destination via the on-board satellite navigation system
and the Park Assistant service offers a number of parking places. The driver can
select one of these and even reserve it for a certain time.
The navigation system then shows the way to the car park, taking account of
the traffic conditions.

Payment for the parking is calculated automatically via an electronic ticket
fitted to the car and debited direct from the driver’s bank account.
