Russia’s car output rose 20.1% year-on-year to 1.127m units in January-September, according to the Industry and Trade Ministry.

The increase was attributed to higher production of foreign-branded cars, which amounted to 454,000 cars, or 40.4% of the total car output in the period.
Companies operating under industrial assembly agreements produced 277,800 cars in the period, or 24.7% of the total output.
AvtoVAZ has announced that it expects to supply 2,000 Lada cars to Cuba in 2009 under an agreement signed with Cuba’s state-controlled corporation Cubalse, AvtoVAZ’s press office said Monday.
