Australia`s Orbital Engine Corp. has signed a `memorandum of understanding` aimed at establishing manufacturing facilities for the production of two-stroke Orbital Combustion Process (OCP) engines in China, say Asian news sources (13/12/00). Orbital is eager to offer both its two- and three-cylinder engine designs to the auto industry, saying that its powerplants have application potential in the minivan, passenger car and `multi-purpose-vehicle` (MPV) sectors – alongside motorcycles – in China. The company claims to produce its two-stroke motors at much less cost than the equivalent-performance conventional four-stroke engines due to fewer parts and lighter weight.
