The Focus also won in the ‘Best Compact Family Car’ category, while its larger sibling, the Mondeo, retained the hotly-contested ‘Best Family Car’ award.

The panel of judges, which relied on detailed new and used car data from EurotaxGlass’s – publishers of Glass’s Guide – to decide the winners in 19 categories, commended the Focus for its rewarding handling, reliability, dealer support and strong value-for-money.

“The second-generation Ford Focus has proved extremely popular as a new and used buy since its launch in 2004, and continues to be among the most enjoyable cars to drive in its class,” said Jeff Paterson, Senior Car Editor at EurotaxGlass’s, and a lead member of the Used Car Honours’ judging panel.

“The Focus’s success in the new car sales charts means that there is now  a greater selection of used examples available, and buyers rarely have to travel far to find a Ford dealer for cost-competitive servicing and maintenance,” Paterson adds.
