Having been re-elected as head of the Volkswagen supervisory board, Ferdinand Piëch is poised to assume the same role on the MAN supervisory board.


According to the German weekly news magazine, Focus, Piëch has secured the support of senior union representatives by guaranteering jobs if the merger of MAN, Scania and VW Commercial Vehicles goes ahead.


Volkswagen will own almost 30% of the shares in MAN by the time of the annual general meeting on 10th May and therefore will be entitled to three representatives on the supervisory board. As the largest shareholder it is entitled to chair the board.
