Asked about the London-based City AM newspaper’s report on Monday that Renault was a possible bidder for Ford’s Premier Automotive Group (PAG) which groups Jaguar and Land Rover together, a Renault spokesman told Reuters: “Of course we absolutely do not confirm this information. [Chief Executive] Carlos Ghosn said last week that the acquisition of a luxury brand would bring nothing to Renault or the Nissan alliance, in the short term.”
City AM earlier on Monday reported that private equity firm Alchemy Partners was lining up a GBP3bn ($US5.9bn) bid for Land Rover and Jaguar and other possible bidders included Renault.
