The first batch of the new Xiali compact cars rolled off the production line in north China`s coastal city of Tianjin on Thursday (14/12/00), Xinhua News Agency reports. The new cars – manufactured by Japan`s Toyota and China`s Tianjin Auto Group – will be small in size but have ample room inside.

According to the article, production of the vehicles – which are expected
to be priced around 132,000 yuan ($US15,900) – took two years from design
to manufacture.
