BMW China president Dr. Christoph Stark reportedly told a press conference that the 1 Series would be imported built-up and not made locally, at least to start.

However, he added that it could be made locally depending on the market response.

Earlier this week, BMW unveiled plans to add its new 6 Series in China and will sell the model at 1.07 million yuan (around US$$144,000) in Chinese market.

In the first ten months of the year, local assembler Brilliance BMW sold 24,254 BMW vehicles, up 35 percent from last year; in the same period, 14,329 BMWs were imported, according to a Gasgoo report.
