Luca De Meo has just been named chief executive officer of Alfa Romeo Automobiles, replacing Antonio Baravalle who has decided to leave the Fiat Group.
De Meo will remain chief marketing officer of the group, with responsibility for all marketing-related activities across all Fiat Group sectors, as well as his responsibilities as chief executive officer of Abarth.
Fiat said that De Meo’s simultaneous commitment to the development of the Alfa Romeo brand and to the promotion of marketing activities puts him in an ideal position to further one of Alfa Romeo’s most important projects – its return to the US market.
Sergio Marchionnne, chief executive officer of the Fiat Group, said in a statement: “The commitment, passion and determination with which Luca De Meo faces great challenges is the best guarantee for Alfa Romeo’s relaunch plan and the development of marketing activities across all Fiat Group brands.”
