The two new models will be a compact car and a medium car designed for Asian markets, reported dpa-AFX news agency.

The models should be ready in around three years, and will aim to help build GM’s market share in Asia.

The Rüsselsheim development facility has already been charged with developing the Epsilon 2 architecture that will form the basis of the next Vectra and also be used by US brands, and the Delta 2 (Astra platform).

These two platforms are likely to be used for the Chinese models, where they will be sold under the Chevrolet brand.
