Following Ford’s restructuring announcement on Monday, the company has made some changes to its executive roster.

The most significant change, widely expected by industry observers is the retirement of the automaker’s marketing chief, Steve Lyons, and his replacement, as group vice president, North America marketing, sales and service, by Cisco Codina.


Lyons will become a Ford dealer in Arizona.


Codona was a company vice president and president of the customer service division and will be replaced in that role by Darryl Hazel.


Al Giombetti, 49, is appointed to the new role of head of Ford and Lincoln Mercury marketing and sales.


Tim O’Brien, vice president, corporate relations is no longer a company executive officer and takes the new title of deputy chief of staff, executive operations and sustainability.


Barbara Gasper, 51, vice president of investor relations, is leaving Ford “to pursue other interests” and will not be replaced at officer level.


In a statement, Ford said these executive changes would help to streamline its operations and contribute to the commitment of reducing its corporate officer ranks by about 12% by the end of the first quarter this year.


With these and other announced changes, the automaker has reduced its number of corporate officers by four and streamlined its product development organisation, where two, instead of three, corporate officers will lead these operations in The Americas.


Three instead of four corporate officers are now charged with running the marketing, sales and service organisation in North America.
