Japanese Automobile News reports that Daihatsu plans to strengthen its relationship with Toyota in Europe. The first move will be to use Toyotas European networks for distribution, finance and repair. Unlike Toyota, and other major Japanese brands, Daihatsu has no production facilities in Europe though Hijet vans are made under licence in Italy.

for distribution, finance and repair.
Unlike Toyota, and other major Japanese brands, Daihatsu has no production
facilities in Europe though Hijet vans are made under licence in Italy.
Daihatsu currently sells just under 20,000 vehicles a year in Europe, most
of which are exported from Japan, and is finding it difficult to make a profit
with the yen strong against the Euro.
