It follows the launch last year by Ford of Canada of a pilot project that enabled
consumers in two Canadian communities to build, price and order three Ford models
completely online.

Its system allows consumers to access www.ford.ca
to:

  • Choose equipment or accessories for a vehicle;
  • Receive a quote for the cost of a car or truck;
  • Search dealership inventory to verify if the selected model is available
    in
    the lot;
  • Calculate, lease or purchase payments and apply for financing;
  • Contact the dealer to arrange for a test drive; and
  • Ultimately, purchase a Ford or Lincoln online;

Also, the service gives car and truck buyers the ability to ‘shop around’ online
using a feature-by-feature comparisons of Ford and Lincoln vehicles to key competitors.

In addition, online customers can calculate the estimated value of a trade-in
if that is part of a transaction.

"The real power of the Internet is not the technology itself, but its
ability to improve the level of service, convenience and satisfaction delivered
to the consumer," said Alain Batty, president and CEO, Ford Motor Company
of Canada, Limited. "We have listened carefully to our online customers,
and working closely with our dealers, we are now providing one of the most comprehensive
online shopping experiences in the auto industry." The website includes
details on all 2001 Ford and Lincoln vehicles, with the 2002 models coming online
later this month.
