Brazilian automakers produced 155,825 vehicles last month, according to the Brazilian National Automaker’s Association (Anfavea), writes Rogério Louro Alves.
This was up only 0.5 percent over the 155,108 units built in July – and 7.9 percent down on the 169,292 vehicles built in August 2000.

Total vehicle sales in August grew 4.8 percent to 130,814 units compared with the 124,816 units sold in July. Sales of one-litre models accounted for 79.3 percent of new car sales in Brazil last month. This was the biggest share of the total new car market ever accounted for by the one-litre segment.
Brazilian automakers exported 32,780 vehicles in August, a decrease of 1.1 percent compared with the 33,121 units shipped to foreign markets in July.
August exports decreased year on year by 7.2 percent.
